How to Be An Optimist

If you want to learn more about how to become an optimist, then you want to read this. You can live a more successful and rewarding life by using the ideas I’m going to share with you. These ideas help you improve your ability to think optimistically by changing your thoughts and surroundings.

As you learn to be optimistic, you become more able to produce great results in your life. This optimism gives you a greater sense of happiness, love and joy. You experience more success, earn more money and create more rewarding relationships. Best of all, optimistic people often feel like they have a greater purpose life.

You have to train your mind if you want to think like an optimist. One of the ways you can do this, is by praying. When you pray, turn over your self-doubt and resentment of others and be thankful for what you already have. This helps you to see yourself and others in a more positive light. And having a grateful heart helps you to see your current life with more optimism.

Another way you can train your mind, is to start paying attention to your thoughts. Any time a negative thought starts to creep in, you must stop it. This is not easy, but with a little practice you can do it. You probably already have a sense of whether or not you are prone to negative thinking. It’s okay if you are, just remember that the process takes a little time. Here is a technique that helps. When a negative thought starts to rise up, or you find yourself spiraling out of control with a negative attitude, stop, take a deep breath, and say “NEXT”. Now, repeat a short positive affirmation or think about a happier time in your life or about one of your successes in life. If you can’t come up with anything, think about yourself dressed up like a clown. That is good for a laugh, and it sets you back on the right track.

Change your surroundings, and you can change your thoughts. Doing the same thing over and over gets you the same result. So, try to mix it up a little. Drive to work a different way. Open the windows and let in the sunlight and fresh air. Listen to uplifting music that makes you feel good inside. Join a club, church or civic organization and make new friends. Paint your home or office with bright colors. You can even buy some new clothes that make you look and feel good. Think through this a little and come up with your own ideas, because changing a few things makes a big difference in how you think.

Remember, you can still be realistic about your life. Optimism is not a quick-fix for your problems. However, if you pray, stop dwelling on negative thoughts, and create a positive environment for yourself, you will find that you make better decisions when dealing with your problems. And, by being optimistic, you attract more happiness, success and prosperity into your life.
