34 Keys to Creating a Positive Mental Attitude

Posted by Mick Kopp | June 9, 2008 .

You are what you think about all day long.

James Allen, the author of As a Man Thinketh once wrote,”A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.  If this is so, then thinking negative thoughts about yourself, your situation, and others will produce negative things to happen in your life.  Alternatively, thinking positively will produce good things in your life.

A positive mental attitude can help you:

  • Attract new friends.
  • Influence and persuade others to do what you want.
  • Learn to be happier with what you have.
  • Create a feeling of purpose in your life.
  • Have more confidence in yourself.
  • Find your dream work, something you are passionate about.
  • Attract and make more money.  It’s yours for the taking. They print more everyday.
  • Attract good things to you.
  • Learn to deal with difficult people.
  • Build great faith in yourself.
  • Feel closer to your Creator.
  • Find that relationship you’ve been waiting for.
  • Get a new car.
  • Buy a new house.
  • Live debt free.
  • Start a new business.
  • Be more popular with your family and friends.
  • Deal easily with failure.
  • Find great success in everything you do in life

Are you stuck in a rut with your negative thoughts?

You know your life would be better if you could have a positive mental attitude, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening.  Negative thoughts keep creeping in, and you just can’t seem to get rid of them. They sabotage you around every corner.  They keep you from doing your very best, cause you to procrastinate, ruin your relationships and maybe even get you fired.  You look for a way out, but there doesn’t seem to be one.  So, you keep going down the same road over and over again.

The problem is, that you keep doing the same old things that don’t work.  Which means, you keep getting the same results.  All the while, you are missing the chance to live a better life.  A life filled with prosperity, success, happiness and joy seems out of your reach.

However, you can find this life, if you just know where to look.  This great life is all around you. It is just as far away as your thoughts.  Life is good if you want it to be.  All you need to do is develop a positive mental attitude, and you will begin to experience life at its best.

So what do I have to do to get a positive mental attitude?

Read this, and I’ll tell you.

“A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth.  If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein and will continue to produce their kind.”  by James Allen

You have to cultivate your mind!

You have to devote yourself to attaining a positive mental attitude, by changing how you perceive the world around you.

Once you do this, your mind becomes just like a garden.  These new thoughts that you plant will start to grow for you.  But, like in a garden, good fruit does not grow over night.  A plant needs time to take root and grow. It needs to be fed, watered, and any weeds must be pulled for it to produce good fruit. The same goes for your mind.  Prepare good soil, feed and water your mind with good thoughts daily, and  be sure to pull up those nasty weeds of doubt, despair, guilt and unhappiness, so that the good fruit will grow in your life.  If you remain faithful in you efforts, you’ll find that small things start to change pretty quickly.  The bigger things sometimes take a little longer, but they will change for you, as long as you are persistent in feeding and watering your mind with the right thoughts.

So what do people with positive mental attitudes do differently?

They are constantly aware of their thoughts and take ownership for what they are thinking.  You won’t find them blaming others for what they are thinking, or feeling bad about their misfortunes in life. They don’t let others talk negatively to them. They make sure that they shape their minds in everything they do.  When they experience a negative thought, they turn right around and replace it with something good.

You can do this too.

The next time you have thoughts of doubt, failure, misfortune, etc., just say  ”Next” or “Delete” to yourself.  Like, “I will never get that promotion,” “DELETE!” or “I don’t deserve any better than this,” “NEXT!” This will make it easier for you to move on to a more positive thought.  Pretty soon you’ll get used to it and thinking positively will be second nature to you.  Try it for a week and see how it works for you.

So what are you waiting for?  Get started today!  Here are a few things you can do to create a positive mindset or keep developing yours if you already have one.

  1. Smile at yourself in the mirror. (This produces endorphins and affirms your happiness to your subconscious mind.)

  23. Stop smoking, Stop drinking, Stop doing drugs.  Everyone knows these are bad for you.  Enough said?
  24. Start a business doing what you love.
  25. Start gardening.
  26. Buy some plants, and place them around your home and office.
  27. End your bad relationships.  You know which ones they are.
  28. Treat yourself to a nice vacation
  29. Read my blog.  It’s proven to inspire.
  30. Teach others how to develop their own positive mindset. There is no better way to learn something than to teach it to someone else.
  31. Be proactive with your problems.  Handle them immediately.
  32. Agree with others quickly.  Arguing produces a negative mindset.
  33. Put notes with positive affirmations about yourself up all over your house and office.

This should help you get started, or continue down the road with a positive mental attitude.  Let me know what works for you.

Good Luck!
